Otto will provide more details as they become available, so watch this space for any updates.

The Night Angels are a group of 6 Hobby-Musicians from the ages of 30-50 years old. They met each other when we played in the Original Siebenbürger Blaskapelle (brass band) in Munich, in which several of them are still members. This band has been together for the last 16 years, and enjoy having fun making music.

They have performed all over Germany, and were on tour in Hungary and Rumania. Performances range from simple birthday celebrations to large city festivals or company events. Their tour in the USA will include La Crosse, Wisconsin Oktoberfest, October 1st through the 3rd; New Glarus Hotel and Restaurant, New Glarus, Wisconsin, October 7th and 8th; New Ulm, MN Octoberfest, October 10th and 11th; and of course West Bend & Hartford, Wisconsin.

Congratulations Richard Dahm

If you were watching the Emmy show on Sunday, you probably found it to be the same as usual. But in our family it was something really special. Richard Dahm won an Emmy as the headwriter on the Colbert Report. Why is this so special to us? Well, as a child Richard and his sister, Jennifer, played with our boys. He was always a very talented kid. He was reading out of a book well before he started school and later he showed a lot of talent in drawing. My boys loved visiting the Dahms, because Richard always made them laugh.

Richard's father is a German immigrant who came here with his family when he was a boy. We were good friends with his parents for many years but as the years passed by our connection slowly slipped away. However, recently I started working with Richard's Uncle Harry and it was so interesting to hear how very successful Richard had become. He has kept me up-to-date with the Dahm family and let me tell you that whole family is very proud of Richard.

Richard was very instrumental in starting the now very well known newspaper, the Onion, while he was still living in Wisconsin. He wrote a book, The Cultural Idiocy Quiz, and been a writer on a long list of TV shows.

Lately, he has been writing for the Colbert Report and this year was his 4th Emmy nomination. Well, the number 4 must be his charm, because he won. Take a look at the photo below.

Semino Rossi receives 12 Gold Records

Yesterday, September 20, we were watching the Musikanten Stadl. It took place in Munich at the Olympiastadium. Also, it was taking place opposite the opening day of Oktoberfest in Munich.

It was a great show, but one of the highlights was when Andy Borg presented 12 Gold records to Semino Rossi. He also premiered his new CD pictured on the right. Take a look at the video cut I have below of the surprise presentation of 12 gold records and then Semino Rossi sings "Rot sind die Rosen" that is on his new CD.
Semino Rossi was one of the interviews we had on the Stimmung Stunde back on June 11, 2005. If you would like to hear that interview, just click here or look along the left sidebar and you can click a player button directly.

Marc Pircher fills the Hall in Berumerfehn

Our dear friend and former Talent Coordinator for the Stimmung Stunde, Maria Olligies, teamed up with Stefan Behrends to present the 2nd annual Musikparade. This year Marc Pircher provided the music on September 7 in Berumerfehn, Germany.

The hall had been sold out for months and as usual, Marc Pircher, had the place hopping. Just take a look at the pictures that are posted at Stefan Behrends website.

Next Maria has been getting ready for October 2 where she is producing an evening with Vincent & Fernando, who placed 2nd in the Grand Prix der Volksmusik for the 3rd year in a row. Vincent & Fernando had a beautiful song "Glaube an Gott" that was written by Gunter Behrle. If anyone is planning on being in Germany on October 2, give Maria a call to put some tickets aside for you. Vincent & Fernando will be appearing at the Hotel Hagen in Haren Germany. Maria, and her husband, Heinz, got some very nice local coverage in the newspaper. Just double click on the newspaper articles below, so you can read them.

Schmalzler on Kabel Eins today

A great big thank you to Werner. If it had not been for him, Hilde and I would have forgotten to record the Kabel Eins show Abendteuer Leben today at 22:50 Germany time.

Some of you may remember that a TV team from ProSeben in Germany was here in Milwaukee for a special that they were recording of the Schmalzlers, who were at German Fest this year. I am anxious to see what they put together.

Those of you who can record German television like Shift TV, be sure to set your recorder to Kabel Eins today, September 16, at 22:50. I don't know if there will be a repeat of this show.

Berstetaler in West Bend

Last night we went to the concert in West Bend at the Cinema Brew Haus. There were two showtimes and we went to the 4 pm show (there was another one at 7 pm). Peggy Mueller & Familie started off the show, and as usual, they delivered a fine performance.

The Berstetaler Blasmusikanten followed and played from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm with one intermission. If Blasmusik is your thing, then this is the band for you. It is a fine group of musicians who come from the Brandenburg part of Germany.

They will be playing at the Bavarian Inn today at 2 pm to 6 pm. But our friend, Peggy Mueller, will be starting out the afternoon with her special brand of music at noon.

Don't forget, today is Sunday and Bavarian Inn is offering FREE ADMISSION to all seniors on Sunday.

I have a little slide show below of last night's performance, if it stops before you get to see all the pictures, just click on the X in the right courner of the frame and it will start again.

Berstetaler Musikanten in West Bend

Thanks to Peggy Mueller for letting us know that the Berstetaler Blasmusikanten from Germany will be doing a special performance in West Bend on Saturday, September 13. We are happy that they included Wisconsin in their 14 day tour in the U.S. while they celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Check out their website and see what they are all about.

Yes, I know that they are also appearing at the Bavarian Inn Oktoberfest on Sunday, but I thought if some people were not able to make the Sunday performance they might like the details for this Saturday performance.

There will be 2 shows on Saturday. They are being sponsored by WTKM and Richard Feutz from WTKM Radio provided some details for us. These will be 2 nice shows where you have a comfortable seat and can enjoy the music.

There is one show at 3:30 pm and the other show starts at 6:30 pm. The first half hour of the show features our own Peggy Mueller on her button box. Then the show continues with the Berstetaler Blasmusikanten.

Each show is only $5.00.

Scott C Seban - Music Venders

Our sincere condolences to the family & friends of Scott Seban. Scott was a familier face to the German-American community in Milwaukee. He was a member of the popular Music Venders Band, who is scheduled to play at the Bavarian Inn's Oktoberfest this weekend.

Please go to the website of the Music Venders to read the fine tribute they made to their dear friend and fellow band member.

Here is the intro page at the Music Venders website that described Scott.

Name: Scott Seban
Birthday: October 4, 1969
Day Job: Semi-Truck Driver
Family: Single
Instrument: Sound & Light Technician, Back-up Vocalist

Favorite Entertainer/Musician: Styx, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra
Hobbies/Interests: Snowmobiling, Vacationing in Northern Wisconsin
Drink of Choice: Southern Comfort & Coke
Year Started with Band: 1992

History:
Originally from central Illinois, Scott moved to Wisconsin in 1985. He met Chris while they were both attending Milwaukee Lutheran High School, which is where they became friends.

After graduation, life took them into different directions, until 1991, when the two crossed paths again. Chris had already formed a band, but felt that it was too much to run the sound equipment efficiently, and perform on stage as well. Scott had been working part-time as a disc jockey for a music company in Milwaukee, and had some sound equipment knowledge and experience as well. Soon thereafter, Scott made his debut with the band, and has been an intricate part of The Music Venders ever since.

In recent years, Scott has also been singing third part harmony in many of the band’s American and German selections, which has been an enlightening experience for Scott to say the least. His talents make him truly unique, and set him apart from the ordinary soundman.

This was the death notice published at the funeral home's website.
